PaardenEiland Criterium
Our first race in the Criterium Championship series place on Sunday 5 February at 15h00 in the afternoon. Building on the success of last years crit series, we know it’s going to be fast, furious and a whole load of fun! Bring friends and family along to support you! This event is going to be hosted at a new venue so please familiarise yourself with the directions to get there.

Course and Distances
The course is a circular route around the industrial area of PaardenEiland. Please note that this is a new course however, it’s quite close to the old one and easily accessible. The start area is in Transvaal Road and goes circular, anti-clockwise as shown below.

Parking and Registration
Parking will be in the parking area next to the open ground in the centre of the circuit. Vehicles will not be allowed across the circuit while the race is underway, but there is plenty of holding space in the side roads near the start
Registration will be on the parkland near the start. Please ensure that you are at the venue well in advance of your race as you will not be able to cross the race circuit while a race is underway.
Please note that this race is on public roads with no road closures. We will do everything we can to mitigate the risk to participants.

Cancellation Policy
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid-19 epidemic, the organisers of the Western Cape Championships reserve the right to cancel the race should circumstances dictate. If we cancel the race 7 or more days before the time (on or before 29 January 2023) we will refund those who have entered 60% of their race fee. Anytime after that, we will refund 30% of your entry fee. Alternatively, arrangements can be made with the registration team to carry the race fee over to the rescheduled event. Should you request a refund, when the rescheduled event is announced, you will be required to pay the full amount again.
Entrants who cancel their entries 7 or more days before the time (on or before 29 January 2023) will be refunded 30% of their entry fee. Cancellations in the 7 days prior to the event, or on the day itself, will not be refunded.
Asla Park Criterium
The Asla Park Criterium takes place on Sunday 18 February 2023 at 14h00 in the afternoon. It’s the second race in our Criterium series so come and test yourself around this tricky little course.

Parking will be to the left of the traffic circle upon entering the Asla Park premises. See map below:
Registration will be on the open ground at Asla Park in the centre of the race circuit. Please ensure that you are at the venue well in advance of your race as you will not be able to cross the race circuit while a race is underway.
Please note that Asla Park is privately owned property and as such have strict security requirements in place. Each person entering the venue will have to show their drivers license for scanning. Refusal to do so will mean you cannot enter the premises.

Compulsory Practice: It is compulsory for Nippers and Sprogs to practice the course on the day before the race (Friday) and checking will be done. This is for their safety – to give parents and riders the opportunity to identify which obstacles riders are not competent to ride and to ensure that they do not get lost on route !

To qualify for WC Colours Awards, you need to enter your Region correctly during the race entry process. And, the Region that you select during the entry process, must be the same as the Region that you have on your Cycling SA profile. Please check and correct you CyclingSA profile if necessary.

Marking of the Track: Marking of the track and the construction of the race village will commence on Thursday prior to the event.
WPMTBC only take possession of the track being utilized on the commencement of the official practice and at that stage will offer the necessary marshaling and medical services.
Technical/Feed zones: There will be two Technical & Feed zones which will operate back-to-back on the start field. Entrance to these zones will be restricted. Please apply for access at registration.
SA XCM Champs and Bike Festival Paarl
The SA XCM Championships will take place on 4 and 5 March 2023 at Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, Western Cape. There will also be an Enduro event and a Schools and Juniors short track race over the same weekend.

The Century City Sport Festival celebrates its 14th year of existence and City Cycling Club has been hosting the criterium for the Sports Festival from the first edition and has seen it grow in leaps and bounds. Racing is around a 1.5 kilometre circuit which is secured by the very competent Century City Property Owners security staff. This is the third race in the WP Road Criterium Cup that commenced in February.
The Century City Criterium takes place on 5 March 2023. The ever-popular crit race is hosted by Century City in conjunction with the City Cycling Club. Racing starts at 8h00.

Century City Criterium
The last of our criteriums takes place on Saturday 18 March at 14h00 in the afternoon. Bring friends and family along to support you at Tigers Milk. Series prize giving will take place after this event.
Parking Arrangements:
Parking for the cyclists will be at the parking area alongside the taxi rank on Century Way. This is the same place that we start the annual Century City event each year. There will be no parking closer to the venue due to road closures

The 7.7 kilometre Atlantis circuit can be described as the The Fastest Flattest road race in the Cape. This is the second of our league races for the 2023 season
