Winter Track League

Cape Metropole (WP) is proud to reveal its dynamic racing format for the inaugural Winter Track League series starting in June 2021. Action packed racing over six rounds the series will see the top riders emerge as winners in their various categories. First event of the series will take place on 5 June at the Bellville Velodrome.

Due to restrictions that have been imposed insofar as numbers of participants, staff and support that we are allowed to have at an event, we unfortunately cannot allow any spectators.

League Format

The Winter Track League is a league format where every round will feature the same race programme. Riders score points across the six rounds in either the Sprint or Endurance category. Each category has two different types of races in which competitors can accumulate points: Sprinters will race in both Chariot and Match sprint while Endurance riders will race the Elimination and Scratch.

League format is where every round will feature the same race programme. Riders score points across the six rounds in either the Sprint or Endurance category. Competitors can accumulate points in each category.

A new addition to the series is the scooter race where riders ride behind the scooter for a certain amount of laps ( eg 20 laps behind scooter) at a constant pace and then the remaining laps they race. Rider/riders are allowed to ride their own race if they don’t want to stay behind the scooter. A maximum of 1 Lap behind the scooter per rider is allowed.

Points allocated as follows: 5, 3, 2, 1 for first 4 riders. There is racing for all categories, from novice to Elite riders.
